How To Order “The Y-BOX”

To order, please fill out the order form linked at the bottom of this page. In response, I will send a complete invoice via PayPal (PayPal ID not required if paying by credit card). Y-BOXs will be shipped in the order that payment is received in response to the PayPal Invoice.

The Y-BOX version 2.1 is priced at $139 each, plus shipping via USPS Priority Mail (including International), and California state and local sales tax (for California residents only). Shipping is also available via UPS or FedEx upon request.

A limited quantity of the original Y-BOX version 1.3 is available for ony $129 each while supplies last.

Up to four 2.5 ft (0.76m) shielded DE-15 M/M and M/F cables may be added to each Y-BOX ordered for an additional $10 each (not sold separately without Y-BOX; all Y-BOXs and cables are bundled together in a single shipping box). 5 ft (1.5m) M/F cables are $12 each.

A shielded DE-15 “High Density” Male-to-Male cable with all 15 pins wired straight through is required to connect the K3 or K3S Accessory port (ACC) to the Y-BOX. VGA monitor cables cannot be used (they do not connect all 15 pins as required).

Be sure to order at least one 2.5ft (0.76m) M/M DE-15 cable for each Y-BOX ordered, if needed ($10 per cable). This is a brand new high-quality gray cable with Amphenol connectors, as seen below:

Six (6) female-to-female wire jumpers of various colors and lengths are included inside each Y-BOX ordered. The connectors fit snugly over the 0.025" (0.635mm) standard square header pins.

Two (2) small shunt jumpers are also included inside each Y-BOX version 2.1. Use these on the new KEY LINE INTERRUPT and PWR AMP ON AMP via DIGOUT1 header pins.

All Y-BOXs are shipped assembled and tested (this is not a kit). Each Y-BOX contains six internal jumper wires, two shunt jumpers, and two resistors (10K and 470 ohm). The jumpers will be connected as requested to implement one of the following:

  1. Standard configuration (no lockout) – internal jumpers will be wired directly to the RCA connectors as shown here, with a shunt jumper positioned to key the amplifier normally, and no jumper on the PWR AMP ON via DIGOUT1 header. Unused spare jumpers are stowed on R1 and R2 (not shown):

  2. SO2R configuration (with lockout) – internal jumpers will be preconfigured for SO2R with All Mode Lockout as described here
    (Requires two Y-BOXs connected to each other with a stereo patch cable, not supplied):

    Note: The All Mode Lockout can be used without an external 5V power supply on CW and Phone simply by connecting a short RCA patch cable between RCA “A” (FSK IN) and RCA “B” (+5V IN). But for lockout in FSK mode, an external 5V DC source (not supplied) must be connected to RCA “B”. See details.

    An RF-quiet 5V DC linear regulated power supply such as Jameco Part No. 1953612 has been tested with the Y-BOX and works very well.

  3. 3-way RCA splitter configuration – for 12V low current distribution as shown here (three unused jumpers, not shown, will be stowed on R1 and R2):
